United KingdomBought a policy from Swinton via 1 of the compare websites starting cover today. Email comes through and it says start date 14th Jan. Absolutely 100% asked for today. Call to explain and am told it needs to be cancelled and quote re done. The premium went from £600 to £900. Feels like it is a ploy to get folks to pay more.Went back to compare site… re ran quote, definitely chose 30th Dec and again they come up with 14th Jan. Swinton offering around £600 again. Then up the price when you put the date to what it was in the first place. Chose another provider.It’s a damn fiddle. Mis selling. You wouldn’t rank high in the list if you put £900 in would you?!Even if it’s the compare site doing this, Swinton must be aware.Always feel like you have to avoid being scammed when buying insurance. Why do the insurance firms operate this way?
