Extremely Disappointed – £750 Wasted on Butchered Laurel Hedges and No Customer Support I paid over £750 for what was supposed to be healthy, growing laurel hedges, and what arrived was shocking. Every single plant has had the entire bottom half hacked off – they look more like small trees than hedging plants. There’s no growth at the bottom (up to about 70cm), which completely defeats the purpose of buying them as hedges. The only way to get any decent regrowth would be to cut them right back, which means I’ll be waiting years to get the coverage I paid for now. Totally unacceptable for this price. What makes it worse is the awful customer service. I’ve emailed multiple times, even offered to drive the plants back myself for a refund, and still no response. Not even an apology. This whole experience has been incredibly disappointing – poor quality plants, no communication, and no accountability. I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from this company to look elsewhere. Save yourself the money and the frustration.

I wish I could add pictures here to show what I ordered, and what I got, and how vastly different the two are. I won't add the review to their site, as the last time I did this, I just wasted my time (they didn't show the review, as they only share the good reviews on their site). Firstly I ordered "Fargesia 'Asian Wonder' - Red Dragon Clumping Umbrella Bamboo" for its unusual red stems, what I got was a standard looking bamboo, with no red stems at all, just standard bamboo colour. Totally false advertising in my view. Secondly I ordered "Rhodohypoxis Twinkle Stars - Fairytale Rhodoxis - Magenta Star Grass" a beautiful looking flower, but these both arrived dead. I'm not sure whether this is because they think it's ok to sell a pot with soil in it, and a few dead leaves on top, or if this died because it was starved of light because it was packaged up and then took 16 days from order to delivery? The courier delivered it the day after it was collected from them, so it wasn't the couriers fault for a change. Also the communication wasn't great, and when I asked the first time, when I could expect delivery, the customer service person was shirty, telling me it was 3-5 days dispatch, and we were currently on day 5, so this was acceptable. When I contacted them again over a week later, I didn't even get a response from them. Which I thought was very rude! All in all, I've had a previous bad experience with these, thought I'd give them another try, but realise now that I should steer well clear. Hope this helps someone else.

I've ordered a variety of plants, shrubs, bushes and trees from Gardening Express and so far I've been completely satisfied with what I've received. Everything has arrived in perfect condition, exactly as described on the website, and so far, touch wood, nothing has gone on to die. I've always found their prices to be very competitive, and as a subscriber to the emails, they always have fantastic offers. I can genuinely highly recommend Gardening Express.
