I have just been informed by eon that I am being charged 9.50 a month , which totals 114 a year more for not having a dd , this i assume is happening to people who don't comply to utility companies demands for control of your money . They want 113 pounds a month dd when my usage is only 75 per month . No theft there then . I apologize the brokers do this pretending they supply your power , which they don't its a scam by them , I've been looking into this d,d thing on one of my accounts I cancelled my d,d as they were taking money after no payments were due . I raised a concern about this after and was asked to reinstate my d,d I declined . And my account is fully paid and up to date .they do not charge me for not having a d,d and they told me If I set a d,d up again I would lose my low repayment cover which had been happening without my knowledge meaning with it I paid more . Direct debits , you cannot be charged for not having one its illegal , which the utility brokers try to threaten and coerce you into having one , under the guise of you pay less on your bills a discount as they put it to entice you . Your still losing money with a d,d . I just thought people should know this . The brokers for eon have now sent me an email explaining how they con you into a direct debit so they can try to cover the fact they take money under false pretences and lie to do so , ONCE AGAIN YOU CANNOT LEGALLY CHAREGE SOMEBODY FOR NOT HAVING A DD I HAVE FOUND ITS ONLY SUPPOSEDLY UTILITY COMPANY (BROKERS WHO SEND BILLS NOT THE ACTUAL COMPANY )who are using this scam , nobody else does this
Had new smart meters finally fitted by Ian today. Having had about 5 other engineers out over the years I wasn’t convinced that a smart meter would work as in a village on outskirts of Harrogate as no other smart meters were able to connect. Well Ian had the goods today able to install the meters and showed me how to use and understand energy usage on the meter. Lovely man and very efficient. Rang 20 mins prior to arrival.
Where to start.... Several total nightmares all solved by moving to EON. First Octopus Energy take over from Shell and break my meter, replacing it with new meter after messing me about for 6 months but failing to note down the change of meter reading number eg 00000. So EDF got in to a dispute with them over the inaccurate meter reading number but wouldnt bill for gas unless I left them... So bye bye EDF... Within a week EDF are sending me a threatening first letter demanding I pay the gas bill they had refused to send me until then... EDF where doing okay until that point.... That letter proved they prefered drama over solving problems.... So I moved to Eon... Problem solved... just gone... no drama, no fuss... no problem. Moved house, had to switch to Ovo to keep the council happy for a month, prepayment meter complicating things and leading to massive bills... Moved back to EON on 1st Jan 2026... Problem explained, fix planned for 27 Jan, 2 new smart meters on the way... Sorted... No problem, no drama... EON does it again... EON takes the problems other companies cause and makes them go away.... No stress, No Hassle... No problem.
moving in a few days and tried to switch the new address to Octopus an Eon refused it, so contacted Eon and they said a previous account was at the address, I made it abundantly clear this isn't me and I'm moving in on the 20th and have nothing to do with the previous customer, their reply, GIVE US ALL YOUR PERSONAL DATA AND TENNANCY AGREEMENT yeah, I'm not a customer of theirs (nor do I want to), nor am I willing to give them all my personal data, nor am I connected to the previous account in any way, they're cowboys who don't care about customers rights or that I want nothing to do with them DO NOT USE OR GIVE YOUR DATA TO THESE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!
