Easy to order, fast delivery, easy to erect. Looks great when finished. I am 80 years old and erected this gazebo with the help of my son-inlaw, straight forward to put together, easy to follow instructions.
When we were looking at the reviews for Dunster cabins, they were quite varied. Some reviews were petty and unjustified as obviously the purchasing parties just didn't read anything. What confused me was as to why some people were so polar opposite in each others views ref the building. However I think I know now and in my opinion it's all to do with production/delivery.When you receive your cabin and read through the instructions (absolutely recommended) you will see Dunster state many times, "Wood is a natural material". What natural means is it cancelled warp, twist, bow, split etc etc.We ordered towards end of May, received 22nd June and boy oh boy we had some bananas. There are ways to deal with it,but I genuinely feel that if it leaves the production line, then the sooner it gets to you the better,as less time for the wood to start acting naturally. When our delivery arrived (terminator 5x3) it was well packaged and protected from the elements. The delivery guys were great and very professional. Now when you get your cabin you need to have plenty of room to place all of the components and of the floor, and to be fair I thought I had that part nailed. Wrong...I had not factored in warped, twisted wood etc, which I needed to put somewhere else,so I could deal with it. Dealing with 5 or 3metre lengths of wood is not straightforward. Now before the build,we watched the Dunster video of building a cabin, 3/4 people with little experience in DIY and watching the cabin assembly, all looked well. But and it's a big but, very dependent on having straight wood to assemble with in the first place. If it's straight,I genuinely believe a cabin could be assembled very quickly in a couple of days.If delivery is quick after fabrication then it should be straightforward, ours wasn't.As Dunster recommended using any twisted warp wood lower down in the build ,I had 5m lengths of wood with weight on and soaked all over the place. So I couldn't start straight away.Problem 2 was the bearers supplied for the base,I found to be flimsy and easily warped, something a bit chunkier in my opinion would have been a bit better as everything sits on it.Started the build and to be fair various sections slotted in fairly easy, with the ones that needed persuasion, yes I had a mallet, but I fabricated two tools for twisting the wood slightly in places.Cabin went up and although not 100%, fairly pleased with it. Opted for roof insulation but then on top of the roof,I decided to put a rubber roof on as not a fan of felt. The floor insulation I could not fit as bearers quite twisted and bowed during the build, although initially straight,I put it down to the overall construction time. It was to much faffing so I opted for a second choice. The doors were awkward to get to lock,I ended up getting a carpenter friend in to sort.I would say I'm 7or 8 out of 10 on DIY,but there were times when we struggled , just because of the wood being so twisted,an odd plank would not have mattered but I had alot. You have to make your own decision on whether to buy or not,but you need a bit more DIY skills than shown in the Dunster video, which was a smaller cabin, indoors, all straight wood.Prices fluctuate all the time with so many offers as well,so make a note of what your cost price is and watch it.Didn't get my paint from them as cheaper from the manufacturer but also more choice on colours.Got the fly screen on windows but in hindsight for us,a waste of money as well tend to leave the door open.We are enjoying our cabin on the whole, even though the end result isn't perfect,it's still pretty good
Abysmal service. Placed an order after much research and enquiry with company, after paying £1.8k deposit they told me they’ve discovered I was charged ‘wrong price’ and increased cost over £2k! Ignored all attempts to engage sensible questions now I’ve had to involve a lawyer. Avoid and don’t get ripped off!
